Sandoval looks forward to progress webSPRINGFIELD – As State Senator Martin A. Sandoval (D-Chicago) prepares for another term representing the Southwest Side of Chicago, he looks to continue to use his voice as a progressive champion while working with new governor-elect JB Pritzker to move the state forward.

“We have a real opportunity in Springfield to put the state back on track, making it the prosperous, welcoming land which has allowed my family to grow and succeed,” Sandoval said. “We want to put state government back on the side of hardworking families and we want our state to be a national leader in the conversation for America’s principles.”

In the next four years, Sandoval plans to continue to focus on making healthcare more affordable, protecting the human rights of immigrants, increasing public safety and creating more jobs.

“I have always said that the best way to make our communities safer is by developing more jobs and providing residents with the opportunity to achieve economic justice,” Sandoval said. “With a new, receptive governor, we will work to bring economic development to areas of the state that are struggling but just waiting for an opportunity to grow.”

As the son of immigrant parents from Mexico, co-chair of the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus, and Senate Majority Whip, Sandoval will continue to fight to give current and future generations of immigrants the same respect his family has always been afforded.

“In recent years, our people have faced growing animosity that has been stoked by those who sow fear for their own benefit,” Sandoval said. “Led by our Latino Caucus and our new governor, Illinois will once again become a shining beacon of equality for people of all races, creeds and colors. I look forward to working with the new governor on legislation to protect our freedoms.”

Pritzker and Sandoval will be inaugurated in January.
